People ask for private chat expecting it to be a feature you unlock. It is not — it is the default and the only option, because the alternative would change what the site is for.
What private means here is worth being precise about, because the word gets stretched by other products until it means nothing.
The boundaries, stated plainly
Two people, no third slot
A pairing has exactly two participants and no mechanism for a third. There is no invite link, no join code and no spectator mode anywhere in the product.
Nothing addressable about you
Other users cannot open a profile, search for you by name, or return to you after the call. Your display name, if you set one, exists for the length of the pairing.
The thread dies with the room
Text typed inside the match is not written to an inbox on either side. Closing the pairing removes it for both of you at the same moment.
What moderation can reach
Private does not mean beyond reach. A report pulls that specific session into review, which is the trade every workable video service makes; the safety page states exactly where that line sits.
What we genuinely cannot stop
Nothing prevents the other person aiming a second device at their own screen. No video platform can, and a page claiming otherwise is selling you a feeling rather than a feature.
Why one to one beats a room
One to one is the format that makes strangers talk like people. In a group, everyone performs for the room — the loudest voice sets the tone and the quiet ones go quiet for good. With two, there is nowhere to hide and no audience to play to, so the conversation gets real faster.
It also simplifies safety. In a room with twenty people, working out who did what takes forever. In a call with two, a report points at exactly one person and moderation can act on it without untangling anything.

Are there group chat rooms?
No. There are no rooms, channels or lobbies of any kind. One to one is the only format on the site.
Can other people see my conversation?
Not as a feature — there is no viewer mode and no public feed. Moderation exists for safety reasons and is described on the safety page.
Is anything saved after the call?
The match and its text thread end together. There is no inbox to return to and no history page.
Can I stay with the same person for a long call?
Yes. As long as neither side clicks next, the call keeps running. Longer sessions draw on your available matches the same way.
