A gift is a small thing you can send during a call. It costs coins, it appears on screen, and it means roughly what a round of drinks means in person: this was good, here is a gesture.

It is entirely optional. Nobody is gated behind it, no conversation requires one, and you can use the site for years without sending a single one.

The reason it exists is that people kept wanting a way to say thanks that was more than typing thanks. A gesture with a cost attached carries weight that a word does not.

How gifts work

Sent inside the call

Gifts happen during a live match, not through a profile page afterwards. The moment is the whole point of them.

Paid with coins

They draw on the same coin balance that keeps matching running. Nothing separate to buy and no second currency to learn.

Never required

No feature unlocks behind a gift and nobody is obliged to send one. A conversation that goes well is complete without it.

It does not buy attention

Sending a gift does not stop the other side from clicking next, and it should not. Treat it as a thank you, not a transaction.

When to send one, and when not to

The honest use case is narrow. Someone made you laugh at 1am, or spent twenty minutes patiently helping you with a language you are learning, and typing a word felt thin. That is when a gift makes sense.

The bad use case is trying to buy your way out of a conversation that is not working. It does not work, it reads as exactly what it is, and the next button still exists on their side.

So the guidance is simple: if you have to ask whether the moment deserves one, it probably does not. And if you never send one, nothing about your experience here changes.
