Why one button carries the whole site
01 / The next buttonEvery social product has one button that defines it. Here it is the one that ends the conversation you are in and starts looking for the next one.
It sounds blunt written down. In practice it is the opposite: knowing that either side can leave instantly is what makes people willing to start at all. Nobody is trapped, so nobody has to be careful about getting stuck.
That is also where the name comes from. Surfing is not commitment. It is moving through until something holds your attention, and the button is what keeps the movement cheap.
How skipping behaves
What the click actually does
The peer connection closes on both sides at once and your slot returns to the queue. There is no confirmation dialog, no countdown and no grace period where the other person can pull you back.
Skip, block, report — three different buttons
Skipping ends this pairing only and that person can surface again later. Blocking keeps them out of your future pairings permanently. Reporting sends the session to moderation. They are deliberately separate, because most skips mean nothing at all.
What it costs
Nothing throttles how fast you can move on, but each new pairing draws on your available matches — free ones first, coins after. A night of rapid skipping burns through the free batch faster than a night of long conversations.
Being skipped
Their side carries the identical control and leans on it as readily. What you see is the call ending, identical to a dropped connection, with no message and no reason attached.
What does not survive it
The text thread, any translation in progress and the pairing itself all end together. Nothing is queued for later and there is no way back to a specific person once the room closes.
What an easy exit actually buys
Think about the alternative. On a site where leaving is awkward, people stay in conversations that died five minutes ago, get quieter, and eventually close the tab entirely. The exit being easy is what keeps them in the queue instead.
It also fixes matching without any clever algorithm. A pool where everyone moves freely sorts itself: people who want the same kind of conversation end up staying longer with each other, and everyone else keeps circulating.
The honest downside is that you will be skipped, sometimes instantly, sometimes for no reason you will ever learn. That stings for about two seconds. Then the next face loads, and the site starts over — which is the arrangement everyone here has agreed to.

What does the next button do?
It ends the match you are in and immediately starts pairing you with someone else. Nothing is saved and nothing carries over.
Is there a limit on how often I can skip?
No cooldown is applied for skipping. Each new match does draw on your available matches, whether those are free ones or coin ones.
Will they be told that I moved on?
On their side the call simply ends, indistinguishable from a dropped connection. Nothing is sent and no reason appears.
Is skipping the same as blocking?
No. Skipping simply ends the match. Blocking prevents that person from appearing again and is a separate action, as is reporting.
Can I get back to someone I skipped by accident?
Not through the next button. Matching is random, so a skipped match is gone unless you had already agreed to stay in touch some other way.
Nothing here has to be permanent.
